The Horsey Set: 2012 Hamptons Classic
The 2012 Hampton Classic
The 37th annual Hampton Classic, one of the country’s largest hunter/jumper hose shows, is taking place this week and goes through September 2nd.
“With more than 1,600 horses exhibited and more than $600,000 in prize money offered, the Classic is not only a major sporting event, but also one of the most extravagant social events of the Hampton’s summer season. Thousands of spectators arrive daily to watch competition in six show rings and to catch a glimpse of the many celebrity riders and spectators. Among the participants are some of the finest Olympic show jumping athletes in North America. In all, about 50,000 spectators will attend the Classic this year.”
In addition to watching the action, you can stroll around a large, grassy area where vendors set up booths and sell a variety of goods, from beautiful clothing and accessories, to antiques and saddlery.
I love walking around and catching behind the scenes moments of riders taking care of their horses, dogs playing with children, and girls in their perfect riding attire and shiny black boots riding these strong and sleek animals.
